Battery Compliance update – India Compulsory Registration Scheme adds batteries to the mandatory goods list – As of August 2015, portable rechargeable batteries will require compulsory registration in India. Batteries were one of 15 new products to be added to the list of products requiring mandatory registration in India. The applicable test standard is IS 16046:2012, which is based on IEC 62133:2002. However, in country testing is required and CB reports are not accepted. There is not a requirement for a factory inspection although each factory will be required to hold a registration.
